Capturing meaningful places and moments through paint.
About the Artist
I'm Karen — a Long Beach, California artist who paints the places and moments that matter most. My work lives at the intersection of the landscape I love and the stories people carry with them: from the rugged coastal bluffs of San Diego to the quiet warmth of a wedding ceremony painted live on canvas. Many of my paintings begin outdoors as plein air studies, soaking up light and color directly from nature, before becoming larger studio works. I believe a painting can hold something a photograph can't — the feeling of a place, not just the image of it.
The Process
Many of my paintings begin outdoors, studying light and color directly from nature. These plein air studies often become the foundation for larger studio paintings. For weddings and special events, I paint live on location, capturing the atmosphere and key moments of the celebration while guests watch the artwork come to life throughout the event. Each painting I create aims to preserve a moment, place, or memory in a way that lasts.
Painting allows me to hold onto moments that might otherwise pass quickly. Whether it is a quiet landscape, a meaningful place, or a wedding celebration, my goal is to create artwork that people can return to for years to come.
